Who are the Radical Raiders?

The Radical Raiders are a FIRST Tech Challenge team consisting of seventh to twelfth graders from Collegiate High School at Northwest Florida State College and Okaloosa STEMM Academy. Although this is our team’s second year, some of our members have participated in other robotics teams. Despite our short history, the Radical Raiders are very excited for this experience and enjoy working with each other. We are led by our co-captains, two coaches, who mentor and guide us in the right direction, and we are divided into department heads responsible for our team members.

Our Mission

The Radical Raiders’ mission is to positively impact our community through participating in and hosting STEM based outreach activities, expanding diversity within our team, and displaying gracious professionalism with everything we do.

How does the Team Work?

Our team is split into different departments; including build, programming, engineering notebook, and outreach. There are department heads for each area, but anyone can participate in however many parts of the team they want to. We value outreach very highly and try to keep in touch with other teams through methods such as Discord, Virtual Pits, and distanced outreach events.

How are we dealing with the Pandemic?

Due to the pandemic, the dynamic of the team has changed and the team had to adapt to the situations. There are weekly zoom meetings and distanced in-person meetings. We zoom in anyone who can’t go to the in-person meetings. Although sometimes difficult, the team has been able to advance itself and its team members in instrumental ways.
